Exercising with asthma! Exercises recommended for asthmatics!
When exercising with asthma you must ALWAYS have your reliever inhaler with you. It is vital that you do. If you are someone, who does not do any exercises on a regular base, then you will find it difficult to breathe as soon as your body starts doing any form of physical activity. It is important to take breaks if you are struggling to breathe, otherwise you can risk getting an attack/episode. If after breaks you feel that your breathing does not get any better, then you should STOP and continue another day. The routine I usually have before I do any form of physical activity is: I take a dose of my reliever inhaler and that will help me last longer without becoming breathless. Activities recommended for exercising with asthma: Swimming This will help expand the capacity of your lungs and therefore will help improve your breathing in general. Indoor swimming pools are not particularly good, because of chemicals in the water, which can trigger symptoms. Cycling There are many healthy benefits for cycling, but it particularly benefits asthmatics, because it helps improve the lung capacity. Running/Jogging Running will help open your airways to get some oxygen into the lungs. After running you should be able to breathe much better and freely. This physical activity is not particularly good if it is dusty and windy outside. You should also be careful if it is the season of pollen, because this can trigger symptoms. The best time for this activity would be when the air is damp, or after a rainfall, because there are less changes of dust lurking into the air. Yoga This will relax your entire body in general. With asthma, it is helpful for relaxing and is a good form of breathing technique. There are other activities, which you can do to help with your condition, but these are some of the best for an asthmatic. The reason they are the best is because no one is depending on you keep up with them. You are in control on how much you want to and can do it in your own pace.
